Getting a diagnosis of breast cancer and treating, it is a stressful event that affects many aspects of mental health, including body image and quality of life. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of self compassion training on body image and quality of life in women with breast cancer without metastasis under chemotherapy. The research design was a semi-experimental, pret-post test with control group. Twenty-nine women (according to entry criteria) were selected by referring to the office of ancolologists and Ayatollah Khansari Hospital in Arak in 1397. They were randomly divided into two groups of experimental and control. The participants responded to body image questionnaires in patients with breast cancer and quality of life as a pretest. The experimental group was trained based on self compassion package, eight sessions of 60 minutes. Finally, the participants of both groups responded to the questionnaires as a post-test.The results showed that self-compassion training, with emphasis on the three components of kindness with itself, human sharing and mind-consciousness, had a positive and significant effect on improving the body image. Also, based on the findings, the quality of life of women, especially in the physical and mental areas, in the experimental group, had a positive and significant increase compared to the control group. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the development of educational and therapeutic programs based on self compassion can help to improve the mental health and quality of life in cancer patients.

The study aimed to make a comparison between effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral therapy and mindfulness-based therapy in improving quality of life of patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). The study followed a quasi-experimental design with three groups a pre-test and a final test. Group sizes were decided considering the fact that the study was a pilot project and that some subjects might discontinue their participation. Thus, 36 patients (20 males and 16 females) with IBS (diagnosed using Rome III process) were chosen using convenient sampling and then randomly divided into two study and one control groups (each with 12 patients). The IBS-QOL34 questionnaire was administered in the three groups as the pre-test. The questionnaire was administered as the post-test in the three groups two months later. All results were analyzed using statistical methods. After results of the control group and influence of the pretest were omitted, ANCOVA showed that there was a significant difference between effects of the two therapy methods (p <0/05). The LSD post-hoc test also showed a significant difference between effectiveness of the mindfulness-based therapy compared to that of the cognitive-behavioral therapy (p <0/05). It can be suggested based on the basis of the results that the new method of psychotherapy in treating patients with IBS should be considered, because the old therapy is not always effective or even promising. and it can thus be used as a new treatment method for individuals with aviophobia.

The addicts experience various forms of mental stress in their daily lives. Inability to handle the stress reduces their quality of life and thus increases their dependence on drug.
The present article seeks to study the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral stress management therapy in improving the male addict's quality of life.
In a pilot study, 30 male addicts in a rehabilitation center in Isfahan were selected through random sampling to represent the experimental group (15 patients) and control group (15 patients). The experimental group received ten 90-minute sessions of cognitive-behavioral stress management therapy while the control group received no treatment. All the patients completed the SF-36 questionnaire at the beginning of the study, at its end and 3 months after its completion. The data were analyzed using the descriptive statistics and analysis of covariance.
The results of the covariance analysis demonstrated a significant difference between the two groups regarding the improvement of the quality of life. The experimental group received higher scores in both the post-test and follow-up test (p<005).
The cognitive-behavioral stress management therapy has a significant impact on improving the male addicts' quality of life.
