Marital satisfaction is one of the many keywords that family researchers have focused on for years. Despite extensive studies in this field, so far no research has been done on designing a native pattern and profile for predicting marital satisfaction. The present study aims to design a native operational profile for predicting the success rate in creating marital satisfaction based on the important and determinative components. Inspired by existing research, the most important variables involved in marital satisfaction were identified and a questionnaire was prepared. To discover the existing components and factor structure of marital satisfaction in the Iranian society, 240 married individuals living in Tehran randomly answered the prepared questionnaire regarding marital satisfaction. The data were analyzed by factor analysis and receiver operating characteristic (ROC). The findings showed that the factor structure has been assigned to love, spouse emotional stability, marital forgiveness, commitment, financial understanding, and sexual satisfaction. The results also showed that the values of these factors are not the same in men and women. Thus, two profiles were obtained for the groups of men and women. The results of this study portrayed that by using these profiles, the level of marital satisfaction can be well predicted in a future oriented perspective. The results of this study can be well used in developing educational programs aimed at promoting marital satisfaction and also in couples counseling.

Introduction: Alternative kidney treatments, including renal transplantation, hemodialysis (HD), and peritoneal dialysis (PD), are administered when severe kidney failure occurs and the kidney can no longer function. The present study compares different dimensions of marital satisfaction in HD and PD patients so as to assist physicians and patients in choosing their appropriate treatment. Method: This cross-sectional descriptive-analytical study was performed on 77 hemodialysis and 46 peritoneal dialysis patients who had referred to the Hemodialysis, Peritoneal Dialysis, and Nephrology wards of Imam Reza Hospital and Ghaem Hospital, Tehran, in 2018. Findings: Marital satisfaction was significantly different between HD and PD patients, with the latter displaying a greater score in this regard (p <0.05). PD patients also enjoyed a higher level of satisfaction with personality issues, communication, conflict resolution, leisure activities, sexual relationships, children and parenting, and religious orientation (p <0.05). However, satisfaction with financial management and family and friends made no significant difference between HD and PD patients (p> 0.05). Other results suggested that gender, education level, age, number of children, disease onset, type of delivery, and urinary tract infection do not have a significant impact on marital satisfaction (p> 0.05), but diabetes, hypertension, occupational status, and income level significantly affect this variable (p <0.05). Conclusion: This study provided evidence that PD patients, compared with HD patients, experience a higher satisfaction with marital life, especially in terms of personality issues, communication, conflict resolution, leisure activities, sexual relationships, children and parenting, and religious orientation.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of combined positive techniques training on marital satisfaction of women referred to Malayer medical centers. The research method was quasi-experimental with non - equivalent groups. The statistical population consisted of all married women of Malayer city who had marital dissatisfaction. The statically sample comprised of 36 people (18 people in test group and 18 people in control group) which selected through available sampling method from counseling centers. Both groups were matched for age, sex, length of marriage, economic status and level of education. The test group were trained by Seligman and Ellis positive techniques in nine 90-minute sessions. The scale used in this research was long form of Enrich marital satisfaction questionnaire to measure marital satisfaction in the pretest and post-test methods. The results showed that the combined positive techniques training was effective on the marital satisfaction of women, sexual relationship, ideal distortion, personal issues, communication, conflict resolution and family and friends and improved them, (p>05); But on economic management, leisure time activities, children and parenting, equalitarian roles, religious orientation had no significant effect (p> 0.05).
