Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of the present research is to investigate the effect of Insight-oriented psychotherapy in depending and reducing the depression.
Method: The present research uses case study. A 26 year old female participant, which based on clinical interview, diagnostic criterion DSM-IV_TR, and Rorschach test, had dependent identity disorder, participated and by using Back Depression Inventory (Back, 1978), and the Defense Style Questionnaire (Andros and et.al., 1993), was investigated. The effect of remedy by using observation, self-reporting of references, and the repetition of depression questionnaire was investigated.
Result: There was a significant decreasing in the amount of patient’s dependence, and in the Back Depression Scale, the scores of references from 19 in the first session, decreased to 8 in the last session.
Conclusion: Insight-oriented psychotherapy is effective in curing the dependent personality disorder, by relying on free association and emotional evacuation.
