Shopping addiction is an uncontrollable need that forces a person to go shopping for temporary relief from psychological distress and depression. In this regard, the present study was conducted to investigate the reliability and validity of the shopping addiction scale in the Iranian sample. This research was a descriptive-analytical study of evaluation type. The sample consisted of 500 women (404) and men (96) in Tehran in 2021 who were selected by the available sampling method and completed the shopping addiction scale, saving inventory, and psychological well-being scale. Psychometric properties of the shopping addiction scale were analyzed by confirmatory factor analysis, divergent validity, concurrent validity, Pearson correlation, and Cronbach's alpha coefficient in R software version 4.1 at a significance level of 0.05. The seven-factor structure (Salience, Mood Modification, Conflict, Tolerance, Relapse, Withdrawal, and Problems) of the shopping addiction scale was evaluated and confirmed using confirmatory factor analysis (CFI = 0.89, RMSEA = 0.07). In examining the concurrent and divergent criterion validity, the correlation of the online shopping addiction scale with the saving inventory was positive and significant. The relationship between shopping addiction and psychological well-being was also negative and significant. Cronbach's alpha coefficient for the total score of the in-person addiction scale was 0.96 and for its dimensions was 0.81 to 0.92. The findings indicate the structural validity and acceptable reliability of the shopping addiction scale, and the multidimensional structure of this scale can help to diagnose shopping addiction.

Dream as divine gift always has been regarded by scholars and trying to make meaning and exploring its dimensions still continues. The aim of this study construct and determine of the factor structure and reliability content analysis of manifest dream questionnaire in students of Arak university (MDQ.AU) in the year of 2013. For this purpose, first were analyzed contents of 5688 reported students dreams, 73 items 5-choice with Likert scoring method and an open-ended questions was designed. Face and content validity of the items and components of the proposed amendment was reviewed by experts. Questionnaire with a stratified random sampling proportional to size was carried out on 1084 students of Arak university. Validity of the questionnaire using factor analysis with rotational varimax method was explored. It is based on 10 factors were extracted in two steps. These factors, accordng to the theoretical research and content questions located on factors and experts consider , dream''s subtitle with content of nature, nightmare, relationship, religious, animals, disease and death, Physiological needs, flashbacks, manifest dreams and future- problem solving was named. Also the reliability of the questionnaire by the method of internal consistency using Cronbach''s alpha coefficient was calculated. Based on the results, Alpha coefficients of ten factors was satisfactory. The smallest alpha coefficients belonging to the ninth factor (lucid dream) and the tenth factor (future - problem Solving) equal to 0.601, each with 3 items, and the biggest alpha coefficients belonging to the first factor (nature) equal to 0.871 and with 11 items .Reliability coefficient of the questionnaire was 0.94 that is appropriate. The final questionnaire with 70 closed-response items and one open-response items will be accepted. According to the results of this research, MDQ.AU questionnaire has necessary conditions for use of content analysis of students'' manifest dreams.

Social rank theory is a theory of depression and suicidal behavior based on animal models of defeat and entrapment which, in animals result in depressive-type behavior. Gilbert and Allan (1998) have devised a scale to measure defeat. This goal of the present study was to explore the validity and reliability of the Defeat Scale with students of Allameh Tabataba'i University. A sample of 306 (102 male and 204 female) students was selected using simple random sampling. An exploratory factor analysis with varimax rotation was employed. Beck’s hopelessness and depression scales were used to examine convergent validity. Even though the original scale of the questionnaire was published without subscales, the results of the present research identified three subscales labeled inactivity, loser and satisfaction. Together, these three factors explained 63% of the variance of the matrix of item-correlations. The internal consistency using Cronbach’s alpha was 0.91 overall, 0.91 in females, and 0.92 in males. There were significant correlations between Beck’s hopelessness and depression scale scores with scores on the defeat and with the three factor scores. The Defeat Scale has good reliability and validity in Persian culture.

Background and Objective: To measure the mental strength and ability of human and structures that exist in field of positive psychology some instruments are required. The aim of the present study was to investigate the psychometric properties of Simpson's Hope Scale in Iranian university students.
Methods: In this descriptive-survey research 1000 students of the 18-34 age group and the 23.9±5.13 mean were selected through categorical cluster sampling method from among different Iranian universities, and the participant answered Snyder's Hope Scale, Oxford Happiness Scale, Hardiness Scale, Beck Hopelessness Inventory, Riff's Psychological Well-being Scale as well as Simpson's (1999) Hope Scale (with minor changes).
Results: Of meaningful significance (p<0/01) were Coefficients of Cronbach's Alpha (0.94), split-half (0.85), convergent validity (with Hardiness, (0.40), Happiness, (0.64), Psychological Well-being, (0.47), divergent validity (with Hopelessness, -0.25). Exploratory factor analysis showed that 40-items Hope scale for adults had five latent factors that explain 56% of the variance. Second order confirmatory factor analysis indicated that the five factors had high factor loadings on one latent factor and therefore six factors model was fitted with the data (AGFI=0.93, RMSEA= 0.037, NFI=0.98).
Conclusion: The results showed that this test has high reliability and validity and can be used in other researches as well.

A recent surge in narcissism research by personality and clinical psychologists has been prompted thanks to the development of the Narcissistic Personality Inventory )NPI-40). The purpose of the present study is to investigate the psychometric properties of the Persian version of NPI-40.
A total number of 410 (234 male and 176 female) students in the academic year 2011-2012 with an average age of 25-26 years were selected through stratified sampling to serve as the subjects of this study. They completed NPI-40, Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory–III (MCMI-III) and Extraversion Agreeableness Subscales of Five-Factor Inventory (NEO-FFI). The reliability coefficients of internal consistency, test-retest and concurrent validity were also reported.
The results showed that the total NPI-40 test-retest reliability and internal consistency were 0/81 and 0/77, respectively. The correlation coefficients between NPI-40 and MCMI-III and Extraversion Agreeableness Subscales of NEO-FFI were also reported at 0/82, 0/73 and 0/68, which indicate a satisfactory convergent validity for NPI-40.
Confirmatory factor analysis results showed that the seven-factor model of NPI-40 fits the Iranian sample. MANOVA results also indicated that the total score of Narcissism for men is significantly higher than the one for women.

The main purpose of this study was to examine psychometric properties of a short version of the Self-Regulation Inventory (SRI-S) including reliability, validity, and exploratory factor analysis of the SRI-S in Iranian students. Six hundred and seventy six Iranian volunteers (294 males, 382 females) from universities in Iran were included in this study. All participants were asked to complete the SRI-S (Marques, Ibanez, Ruiperez, Moya, & Ortet, 2005), the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire-Revised Short Scale (EPQ-RS; Eysenck, Eysenck, & Barrett, 1985), and the Mental Health Inventory (MHI-28; Besharat, 2009). The results of exploratory factor analysis supported a single general factor of self-regulation and a five factor structure including Positive Actions, Controllability, Expression of Feelings and Needs, Assertiveness, and Well-Being Seeking. The convergent and discriminant validity of the SRI-S were supported by an expected pattern of correlations between the scale and the measures of personality and mental health. All correlation coefficients between the mean scores on the SRI-S and scores of the extraversion, neuroticism, psychological well-being, and psychological distress were statistically significant. Coefficient alpha estimates of internal reliability were between .90 and .97 for the SRI-S subscales. Test-retest reliability of the SRI-S was also calculated at the range of .71-.86. All correlations were statistically significant. It was concluded that the SRI-S can be considered as a reliable and valid scale to measure self-regulation in Iranian samples.
